AL SADU WEAVING
ACTIVITY
Al Sadu is a traditional form of
weaving practiced by Bedouin
women in rural communities of the
Kuwait to produce soft furnishings
and decorative accessories for
camels and horses. This craft
involves the creation of intricately
woven fabrics using wool, camel
hair, or goat hair, characterized by
geometric patterns and vibrant
colors.
The Al Sadu weaving activity class,
held in Kuwait in the month of May
& June aimed to introduce
participants to the traditional craft
of Al Sadu weaving. The art
teachers attended this class. This
activity was designed to educate
attendees about the cultural
significance, techniques, and
artistic aspects of this ancient
Bedouin art form. The class
provided hands- on experience and
fostered appreciation for the
culturalheritage of Kuwait.
