My India! My Pride
Republic Day is celebrated in India every year on January 26. India was under British
Rule and get independence in 1947. Around two and half years later, the Constitution of
India came into effect on 26th January 1950 and India became a democratic republic. It
means the country’s people choose the government who will run the nation. Our
Constitution was written by a committee headed by Dr B.R. Ambedkar.
Republic Day is celebrated as a national festival. It is a day of patriotic pride. It is
celebrated in every part of the country. The tri-colour National Flag of India is hoisted on
this day. Schools celebrate this day by singing patriotic songs, performing skits, and
conducting cultural programmes. Sweets are distributed among children in schools.
The biggest celebration happens in the capital city, New Delhi. The President of India An important date to remember

ceremony also includes the presence of foreign dignitaries and leaders.

After being under British rule for more than two centuries, India gained independence in
the year 1947. Approximately three years after India’s
Independence, the Indian constitution was adopted on 26th of January 1950which is
known as the Republic Day of India. In the year 1930 on 26th of January, Purna Swaraj
day or India’s Independence Day was celebrated, andthis day gave an impetus to Indian
Independence movement. Every year India celebrates its Republic Day on 26th January.
It is the nationalfestival of India.On this day in 1950, our constitution came into effect.This
year in
2024 we will celebrate the 74th Republic Day of India. On 26th January, the President of
India hoists the national flag in New Delhi. A big paradeis held at India gate in New Delhi.
Republic day is celebrated in schools and
colleges with full enthusiasm and joy. The presidents give awards to the brave soldiers
and people on this day. Republic Day teaches us to live in unityand peace.
